Best Credit Card for Online Shopping in India (2026)
13 October 2026

I have used credit cards for 20 years, and for the last 8 I have not paid for a flight, hotel, forex markup or service fee because of how I use them. That is why I am comfortable saying which card suits which person. If you are hunting for the best credit card for online shopping, the honest answer is that it depends on where you shop. Here are ten good options, ranked, with the catches included.
Quick answer: which card should you pick?
If you buy from many sites, start with the CASHBACK SBI Card. If you live on Amazon, the Amazon Pay ICICI card is free and hard to fault. If Flipkart and Myntra are your thing, take the Flipkart Axis card. Here is the full list at a glance.

|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | CASHBACK SBI Card | Shoppers spread across many sites | Rs 999 |

How to choose a card for online shopping
Flat-rate or platform co-brand. A flat-rate card pays the same wherever you shop online. A co-brand card pays much more on one platform and little elsewhere. If one site takes most of your spend, co-brand wins. If you shop around, flat-rate is safer.
Check caps and exclusions. Many cashback cards limit what you can earn per month or quarter, and exclude things like wallet loads, fuel, rent and EMI. Read these on the bank page before you apply.
Do the fee waiver maths. A fee waived at Rs 2 lakh a year only helps if you actually spend that much. Otherwise count the fee as a cost against your rewards.
Consider a second card. I like pairing a flat-rate card with one platform card for the site you use most. Just do not take more cards than you can track.

The 10 best credit cards for online shopping
1. CASHBACK SBI Card (semi-paid)
This earns the top spot because it is not tied to any merchant. It gives a flat 5% cashback on most online spends, so you do not have to remember which site pays what. It suits people who buy from many places. See the full details on the CASHBACK SBI Card page.
- Annual fee Rs 999, waived on spend of Rs 2 lakh.
- Forex markup 3.5%.
- Estimated eligibility: income Rs 35,000+ a month, CIBIL 700+.
Drawback: the fee is not tiny and there are monthly caps and excluded categories. Check the current cap and exclusions on the SBI Card website.
2. Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card (free)
It is lifetime free, which makes it the easiest recommendation for beginners. If you are an Amazon person, the Amazon Pay ICICI Credit Card is hard to beat for zero cost.
- 5% back on Amazon.in for Prime members, 3% for non-Prime.
- 2% at 100+ Amazon Pay partner merchants, 1% on other eligible spends.
- Rewards are unlimited and do not expire. 1% fuel surcharge waiver.
- No joining or annual fee. Forex markup 1.99%.
- Estimated eligibility: income Rs 20,000+ a month, CIBIL 650+.
Drawback: rewards come as Amazon Pay balance, and 1% elsewhere is ordinary. Verify current rates on the bank site.
3. Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card (semi-paid)
Made for Flipkart and Myntra regulars. The Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card pays 7.5% on Myntra (with a quarterly cap) and cashback on Flipkart and other eligible merchants. Partner brands such as Swiggy and Uber also earn more; confirm the current list with Axis.
- Annual fee Rs 500, waived on spend of Rs 3.5 lakh. Joining fee currently Rs 0.
- Rs 350 activation benefit. Forex markup 3.5%.
- Estimated eligibility: income Rs 15,000+ a month, CIBIL 650+.
Drawback: its value depends on how much you actually spend on those platforms. If you rarely open Flipkart, skip it.
4. HDFC Bank Millennia Credit Card (semi-paid)
A well-rounded mid-tier card. HDFC Millennia pays 5% cashback on Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Swiggy, Zomato, Uber, BookMyShow and more. It also offers a quarterly Rs 1,000 voucher or a lounge visit at Rs 1 lakh spend.
- Annual fee Rs 1,000, waived on spend of Rs 1 lakh.
- Forex markup 3.5%.

5. SimplyCLICK SBI Card (semi-paid)
A friendly starter for frequent online shoppers. Check the SimplyCLICK SBI Card page for details.
- 10X reward points on Amazon, BookMyShow, Cleartrip, Myntra, Swiggy and other partners; 5X on other online spends.

- Available on RuPay for UPI use.
- Estimated eligibility: income Rs 15,000+ a month, CIBIL 650+.
Drawback: rewards are points, not cash, and partner lists and rates change often. Verify them first.
6. Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card (semi-paid)
The Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card is really a bills card first. It gives 25% cashback on Airtel mobile, broadband and DTH bills, 10% on other utilities and 10% on Swiggy and Zomato.

- Forex markup 3.5%.
- Estimated eligibility: income Rs 15,000+ a month, CIBIL 650+.
Drawback: if you do not pay Airtel bills, most of its edge disappears. Check caps with Axis.

A good second card if you order food and groceries online. The Swiggy HDFC Bank Credit Card gives accelerated cashback on Swiggy, including Instamart, and rewards on selected other online brands.

8. Axis Bank Cashback Credit Card (semi-paid)
Straightforward flat-style cashback with no category-picking, and a handy alternative to SBI Cashback if you already bank with Axis. Details are on the Axis Bank Cashback page.
- Up to 7% cashback on eligible online spends, 0.75% on retail and travel, 0.5% on utilities.
- Annual fee Rs 1,000, waived on spend of Rs 4 lakh. Forex markup 3.5%.
- Estimated eligibility: income Rs 15,000+ a month, CIBIL 680+.
Drawback: the waiver threshold is high, and the 7% applies only to eligible merchants. Verify which Axis card is current.
9. Tata Neu Infinity HDFC Bank Credit Card (semi-paid)
Suits households already buying electronics and groceries in the Tata world. The Tata Neu Infinity card earns 5% NeuCoins on Tata Neu and partner brands and 1.5% elsewhere. It also includes domestic and international lounge access with no quarterly spend condition stated.
- Annual fee Rs 1,499, waived on spend of Rs 3 lakh. Forex markup 3.5%.
- Estimated eligibility: income Rs 1 lakh+ a month, CIBIL 720+.
Drawback: a high income bar, and NeuCoins work best inside Tata. Confirm rates and UPI benefits with HDFC.
10. PhonePe SBI Card SELECT BLACK (premium)
This one is for people who spend enough to justify the fee. It offers higher cashback on PhonePe app spends and online shopping, plus premium perks such as lounge access. See the PhonePe SBI Card SELECT BLACK page.
- Annual fee Rs 1,499, waived on spend of Rs 3 lakh. Forex markup 3.5%.
- Estimated eligibility: income Rs 35,000+ a month, CIBIL 700+.

Which card for which shopper?

- Multi-platform spender: CASHBACK SBI first, HDFC Millennia if your income qualifies.
- Salaried first-time card user: Amazon Pay ICICI or SimplyCLICK, both with lower entry bars.
- Food and quick-commerce heavy user: Swiggy HDFC as a second card.
- Premium spender: PhonePe SBI SELECT BLACK, or Tata Neu Infinity if you live in the Tata world.

Mistakes that quietly cut your rewards
- Ignoring exclusions. Wallet loads, EMI, fuel and rent often earn nothing or less.
- Missing the caps. Once you hit the monthly or quarterly limit, extra spend earns little or nothing, so a second card helps.
- Paying only the minimum due. Interest will wipe out any cashback you earn. Pay the full bill every month.
- Chasing a card you will not use. A platform card for a site you rarely visit is just a fee.
