Best RuPay Credit Card in India (2026): 10 Picks for UPI

I have used credit cards for 20 years, and for the last 8 I have not paid for a flight, a hotel, a forex markup or any other service fee. That comes from choosing cards carefully, not from luck. So when people ask me for the best RuPay credit card, I do not give one name. I ask what they spend on, and then I match them to a card. This list is built that way.

Quick answer: the best RuPay credit card for each type of spender

If you are in a hurry, here is the ranked list. Fees are the annual fee from our database. Check the joining fee in each card's section, because a few differ.

  • 1. Tata Neu Infinity HDFC: the strongest all-rounder here if you can meet its income range.
  • 2. HDFC UPI RuPay: cheap and UPI-first, but only as an add-on to an HDFC card you already hold.
  • 3. YES BANK RuPay: free, but also an add-on to an existing YES BANK card.
  • 4. HSBC RuPay Cashback: 10% cashback on dining, delivery and grocery, with a monthly cap.
  • 5. IndusInd Platinum RuPay: basic UPI rewards, but verify the fee first.
  • 6. HDFC MoneyBack+: a dependable online-shopping workhorse.
  • 7. BOBCARD ETERNA: unlimited domestic lounge access if you clear the spend bar.
  • 8. Tata Neu Infinity SBI: the SBI version of the Tata card, with lower income estimates.
  • 9. PaisaSave RuPay: a niche free card with reported high dining and flight rewards.
  • 10. BOBCARD Scapia: free and zero forex, but the RuPay rate is lower than the headline rate.

Not sure which of these fits you? You can take the 2-minute quiz and get one card, instead of reading ten blocks.

Why a RuPay credit card, and where it falls short

The big reason is UPI. A RuPay credit card can be linked to UPI apps, so you can scan a QR code at a small shop and pay on credit. You get the rewards and the interest-free period without needing the shop to own a card machine. For kirana stores, local restaurants and street vendors, that matters a lot.

Now the honest part. RuPay is weaker abroad. Acceptance outside India is patchy compared with Visa or Mastercard, so I would not rely on any card in this list as my only card on an international trip. Also watch two things in every card: reward caps and lounge spend gates. A headline rate often comes with a monthly cap, and lounge access often needs a minimum spend in the previous quarter. I have flagged both below.

Also, UPI spends do not earn rewards on every card. Always read the terms on which UPI transactions count, because banks change this.

The 10 best RuPay credit cards, in rank order

1. Tata Neu Infinity HDFC Bank Credit Card (RuPay variant)

This earns its top spot because it combines everyday rewards with lounge access. Per our data, you get 5% NeuCoins on Tata Neu and partner brands and 1.5% elsewhere, and complimentary domestic and international lounge access with no quarterly spend condition stated. That last point is unusual for a RuPay card.

The annual fee is ₹1,499 (the same joining fee), waived if you spend ₹3,00,000 in a year. Forex markup is 3.5%. The estimated income is ₹1,00,000+ a month with a CIBIL score of 720+. It suits people who already shop at Tata brands and want lounges too. The Tata Neu Infinity HDFC card page has the full details.

The catch: the RuPay and Visa variants differ, and some sources mention a UPI reward cap and lounge thresholds. Confirm the current terms with HDFC Bank before you apply.

2. HDFC Bank UPI RuPay Credit Card

Built for UPI payments, with a low ₹99 annual fee (and a ₹99 joining fee) that is waived at ₹25,000 of spend. It earns 3% CashPoints on groceries, dining and PayZapp, 2% on utilities and 1% elsewhere. Forex markup is 3.5%.

It suits someone who already has an HDFC credit card and wants a cheap RuPay add-on for UPI. The HDFC Bank UPI RuPay card is cheap and simple.

The catch: this is issued only as an additional card to an existing HDFC credit card account. You cannot apply for it standalone, so it is not a first-card option.

3. YES BANK RuPay Credit Card

This one has no annual or joining fee. It is a sensible free add-on if you already hold a YES BANK card and want to pay by UPI. Forex markup is 3.5%, and the estimated income is ₹20,000+ a month. Some sources mention UPI reward points and quarterly domestic lounge visits with spend conditions, but I could not confirm those, so check them on the bank's site. Here is the YES Bank RuPay card page.

The catch: like the HDFC UPI card, it is available only as an add-on to an existing YES BANK card, not as a standalone application.

4. HSBC RuPay Cashback Credit Card

A good fit for salaried people who eat out, order food and buy groceries. You get 10% cashback on dining, food delivery and grocery, and 1% elsewhere. There are up to 8 domestic and 2 international lounge visits a year, and it is UPI-linked.

The annual fee is ₹499 (the same joining fee), waived at ₹2,00,000 of yearly spend. The estimated income is ₹50,000+ a month with CIBIL 680+. Our data lists a 0% forex markup, but please check that again on HSBC's website before relying on it. See the HSBC RuPay Cashback card for details.

The catch: the 10% rate is capped at ₹400 a month, so it rewards moderate spending, not heavy spending.

5. IndusInd Bank Platinum RuPay Credit Card

A basic, low-friction card for people starting out. It earns 2 points per ₹100 on UPI and 1 point per ₹100 elsewhere, with a 1% fuel surcharge waiver. UPI earning is capped at ₹1 lakh a day. Forex markup is 3.5%, and the estimated income is ₹25,000+ a month.

The catch: the fee is unclear. The official page calls it lifetime free, but two aggregators cite a roughly ₹10,000 joining fee. Verify which applies before applying. More on the IndusInd Platinum RuPay card page.

6. HDFC Bank MoneyBack+ Credit Card (RuPay variant)

A dependable cashback workhorse for online shoppers. You get 10X CashPoints on Amazon, Flipkart, Swiggy, BigBasket and Reliance Smart, a ₹500 voucher at ₹50,000 quarterly spend, and a fuel surcharge waiver. The fee is ₹500 (same joining fee), forex markup is 3.5%, and the estimated income is ₹20,000+ a month.

The catch: I could not confirm that the RuPay variant is open to new applicants, and 10X points come with caps. Check both with HDFC Bank. The HDFC MoneyBack+ card page has the numbers we hold.

Choosing between these online-shopping cards? You can find the card made for you by answering a few questions on your spending.

7. BOBCARD ETERNA

A premium card for people who spend more. It earns 15 points per ₹100 on travel, dining, online and international spends, gives unlimited domestic lounge access once you spend ₹40,000 in the prior quarter, and has buy-one-get-one movie offers up to ₹250 a month. Forex markup is 2%.

The annual fee is ₹2,499 (same joining fee), waived at ₹2,50,000 of spend. The estimated income is ₹1,00,000+ a month with CIBIL 750+. Details on the BOBCARD ETERNA page.

The catch: it is the priciest card on this list, and the lounge access depends on that quarterly spend. If you will not reach it, the fee is hard to justify.

8. Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card (RuPay variant)

The SBI counterpart of the HDFC Tata card, with the same ₹1,499 fee (same joining fee), waived at ₹3,00,000 of spend, and 3.5% forex markup. The estimated income is lower at ₹35,000+ a month with CIBIL 700+, which may make it easier to qualify for. Sources report NeuCoins on Tata brands and quarterly lounge visits with a spend gate of about ₹75,000 a quarter, but I could not confirm this, so verify with SBI Card. Read more on the Tata Neu Infinity SBI card page.

The catch: the lounge benefit seems to need meaningful quarterly spend, and availability of the RuPay variant should be checked.

9. Paisabazaar PaisaSave RuPay Credit Card

A lesser-known digital card from YES BANK with no annual or joining fee. It is reportedly good for restaurants and flights, at about 6%, with 1% on UPI spends above ₹2,000. Treat those rates as reported, not confirmed. Forex markup is 3.5%, and the estimated income is ₹20,000+ a month. See the PaisaSave RuPay card page.

The catch: reward caps are unverified, and it is a niche card, so read the terms carefully.

10. BOBCARD Scapia Credit Card

A free, zero-forex travel card. There is no annual or joining fee, and forex markup is a genuine 0%. The estimated income is ₹20,000+ a month. The headline 20% rewards apply to Scapia-app travel bookings, and the RuPay rate on select categories is lower, at 5% (10% for Visa). Details on the BOBCARD Scapia page.

The catch: zero forex does not help much if your RuPay card is not accepted abroad. For international trips, the Visa variant makes more sense than RuPay.

How to link a RuPay credit card to UPI

The exact screens differ by app, but the idea is the same in PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm and BHIM. Open the app, go to the payment methods or bank accounts section, choose to add a credit card, enter your card details and set a UPI PIN when asked. Then scan a QR code and pick the credit card as your payment source. Check that your card is RuPay and UPI-enabled first, and that the app supports it.

Then check which UPI spends earn rewards. Some cards reward only certain merchant types or set minimum amounts, and the rules change. Not sure which RuPay card suits your daily payments? Start the quiz here and let it narrow things down.

Which one should you choose?

  • First-time card user: if you hold an HDFC or YES BANK card, the add-ons are cheap. If not, look at free options such as BOBCARD Scapia, PaisaSave or IndusInd, but verify the IndusInd fee first.
  • UPI-heavy everyday spender: the Tata Neu Infinity HDFC card is the strongest. The HDFC UPI RuPay add-on is a cheaper complement.
  • Student or non-earning: RuPay cards generally need income. Read our best credit card for students guide for lower-barrier options.
  • Salaried, mid-income: the HSBC RuPay Cashback card is a good fit if you spend on dining and groceries.
  • Frequent domestic traveller: look at the Tata Neu Infinity cards or BOBCARD ETERNA, and check the lounge conditions.
  • Premium or high spender: BOBCARD ETERNA if you will clear the spend bar; otherwise the Tata Neu Infinity HDFC card.
  • Cashback hunter: HSBC RuPay Cashback for dining and groceries, HDFC MoneyBack+ for online shopping.
  • Small-shop or kirana spender: any UPI-linked RuPay card works. Pick the one with the best reward on your usual spends.

When should you pick Visa or Mastercard instead? If you travel abroad often, pay for subscriptions in dollars or want wide acceptance, RuPay is a second card at best. For a wider view, see the best credit cards in India overall, or compare these cards side by side.

FAQ

Can I use a RuPay credit card on UPI?

Yes, if the card is RuPay and the app supports it. You add it in the app and set a UPI PIN, then pay by QR code or UPI ID.

Which is the best lifetime-free RuPay credit card?

The YES BANK RuPay card, PaisaSave and BOBCARD Scapia show a zero annual fee in our data. The YES BANK card is add-on only, and IndusInd's joining fee is unclear, so confirm the fee before applying.

Do RuPay credit cards work internationally?

Acceptance abroad is more limited than Visa or Mastercard. Treat RuPay as a card for India and carry another card for trips.

Which RuPay credit card gives free airport lounge access?

The Tata Neu Infinity HDFC card lists domestic and international lounge access, and BOBCARD ETERNA gives unlimited domestic access after a ₹40,000 prior-quarter spend. The HSBC RuPay Cashback card offers up to 8 domestic and 2 international visits a year. Check the conditions for each.

Do RuPay credit cards earn rewards on UPI payments?

Many do, but not all, and rules vary. IndusInd's card, for example, earns 2 points per ₹100 on UPI with a daily cap. Always read which UPI spends count.

Fees, rewards and eligibility change often, so please confirm the latest details on the bank's website before you apply.

The best RuPay credit card is the one that fits how you spend, not the one at the top of a list. If you want a clear answer, take the quiz and get your one best card. It takes about two minutes.
